We’ve also made the website text as simple as possible to understand.

AbilityNet has advice on making your device easier to use if you have a disability.

Technical information about this website’s accessibility

The Independent Inquiry Relating to Afghanistan team is committed to making its website accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.

Compliance status

This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 AA standard, due to the non-compliances listed below.

Non accessible content

The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons:

  • Some images are centre aligned among a lot of white space, which may be a poor experience for users of stronger zooms
  • Some links to external sites open in a new tab with no warning

Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations

Video content on the home page does not currently have closed captions. This would prevent D/deaf and hard of hearing users from being able to follow the content of the video in real time and is a failure against WCAG 1.2.2 Captions (Prerecorded) (Level A). We have added this as an issue with development team and are expecting captions to be added by September 2023. All new videos will be captioned prior to being published on the website. In the meantime, users can access the transcript linked below the video to access audio content as text.

If you find an issue that we have yet to identify, please contact us using one of the routes described in the ‘Reporting accessibility problems with this website’ section of this statement.

Disproportionate burden

At this time, we have not made any disproportionate burden claims.

Content that’s not within the scope of the accessibility regulations

At this time, we have not identified any content that is not within scope of the accessibility regulations.
